In The Science of Getting Rich, Wattles claimed that in order to live a fulfilling life, one must give equal care to the mind, body and soul. In order to properly care for the mind, body and soul, one must have enough money to fulfil all of his or her wants and needs. Wattles proposed that the key to attracting wealth is turning from the competitive to the creative. The Science of Getting Rich states that, in order to attract wealth or attain a goal, one must form a mental image of what he or she wants to do, have or become. While holding onto this mental image, the person should be grateful to "the Supreme" that his or her desires will be granted. According to Wattles, everything included in the mental image will flow to the person who follows those instructions and who doesn't allow his or her faith to waver. Wattles also asserts that, in order to achieve his or her goals, a person has to actively pursue them. He or she should keep the desire to be rich in his or her mind, and do everything he or she can, each and every day, to be successful. A person must also give more in use value than in the monetary value he or she receives. In this way, an impression of increase will be given to everyone he or she comes into contact with. Essentially, The Science of Getting Rich claims that by visualizing what he or she wants, staying positive, and putting forth an image of success, a person can achieve wealth. The Science of Getting Rich was one of the major influences of Rhonda Byrne, author of the bestselling book The Secret. Many of the techniques put forth by Byrne in the Secret were inspired by Wattles' work. Originally published by Elizabeth Towne in 1910, The Science of Getting Rich was reprinted by Penguin Books in 2007. To find out more about books please visit http://www.thesecretgurus.com/. |
